OFFLINE ON BOARD

A maritime app that keeps working without internet on board.

The vessel app opens in the browser and can be added to the home screen — no app store install. Records are entered without waiting for a connection, stored encrypted on the device and reach the office in order once connected.

THE PROBLEM

Sound familiar?

  • Satellite connectivity is expensive and intermittent
  • Online systems don’t open at sea, so records are entered in bulk later
  • Forms are emailed and some attachments never arrive
  • The office sees what happened on board days later

CAPABILITIES

Independent of the connection

1

No installation

The app opens from a web address and can be added to the home screen on a phone, tablet or computer.

2

Encrypted local queue

Pending records are encrypted on the device with a per-user key and survive signing out.

3

Ordered delivery

Records are sent in the order they were written; the same record is never processed twice.

4

Resumable uploads

Photos and documents upload in chunks and resume where they left off if the connection drops.

5

Offline reading

Forms, work orders, stock and recent records are stored on the device and viewable without internet.

6

Delivery indicator

How many records are waiting, which ones failed and why, and the last sync time are always visible.

PROCESS

How it works

  1. 01

    Record on board

A record is entered on a phone or tablet and waits encrypted on the device.

  2. 02

    Sent when connected

The queue empties when the app opens, when a connection returns or with “Send now”.

  3. 03

    Reviewed ashore

The record lands in the right team’s queue; the decision returns to the ship with the next sync.

WHO IT’S FOR

Who uses it?

Master and officers

Forms, reports, work orders and approvals.

All crew

Hours of rest, incident reports and expense entries.

Office teams

See records from the ship without delay and follow the last sync time.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do we need to download it from an app store?

No. Pelastra opens in the browser and works like an app once added to the home screen. Offline reading requires the installed app; entering records works either way.

Does it work on iPhone?

Yes. Because iOS doesn’t sync in the background, delivery starts when the app opens, when a connection returns or with “Send now”.

Is data safe on the device?

Pending records are encrypted on the device with a per-user key that cannot be exported. This prevents plain text on the device’s disk; it is not full protection on an unlocked device.

What happens if a record is rejected?

It isn’t deleted; it is listed as “not delivered” with the server’s reason and stays on the device until the user removes it.

Stop depending on the ship’s connection.
